Hi everyone! Here’s another post about what kind of things I do at work! Today’s post focuses one aspect of some of the varied Design work I do. As a designer with Disney Publishing, my work can include character design, prop design, and in today’s case– UI Design. I love being able to match styles, and create things that go with a particular design look, and this one was based off a show on Disney.
This was some of the UI Design I did for a Disney puppet app for iPad and iPhone called Sheriff Callie’s Tales of the Wild West. The show is done in CG and the UI needed to match it and still have an old-timey Wild-West feeling without being too overdone or overpowering. The look of the show is very clean and I wanted to fit the design to that.
Here are various screens that include home screen, the puppet play stage, as well as character selection and one of the help areas. I am particularly fond of the rope detailing and the brass framing on particular buttons. This one was extra fun because I got to add a lot of texture like wood and paper grain to my design.
